Official Froth 28 Social Club Bayroot Rules
Section 1: The Setup
A: The Bayroot Table shall be setup properly so that the center logo is even and the sidelines match up. Proper care shall be taken to ensure the table is level and on solid footing.
B: A minimum of 10 cups shall be placed at either end of the table, starting with 1 cup touching the end-zone edge of the 10 yard line. Two cups shall be placed behind this cup, with rows of three and four following for a total of 10. These cups shall be in the shape of a triangle, and shall be spaced as close together as possible.
- More than 10 cups may be used in exhibition play or Ultimate Bayroot play only.
- The setup is checked by placing a cup behind the last row of 4 cups. This cup should be able to stand by itself.
C. Once the cups are setup, the beers shall be poured. A minimum of 2 beer cans per side shall be used.
- Mystery Cups are MANDATORY in all Bayroot events, tournaments, exhibitions or other games.
- Mystery Cups shall be poured to the very top of the cup.
D. The "home team" has the choice of which end of the table to defend, while the "visiting team" shall throw first.
- "Home team" shall be defined in the first game or in bracketed tournaments as the team who lives at the house. Also, the winner of a previous Tournament shall be named "home team" if a Tournament is taking place. Players may use discretion based on time living at the house and/or whether they were the people who bought the place. If neither team has a resident on the team, "home team" status shall be given to the team with the oldest player.
- In all subsequent games, in "Winner Stays" format, the "home team" shall be the team that won the previous game.
E. All used beer cans shall be placed in the center of the table, and stacked in a pyramid shape. This is referred to as the "Beer-a-mid".
- Bottles shall not be stacked. (Duh)
- The Beer-a-mid shall be raised evenly on both sides of the table as to ensure an equal playing field for both teams.
Section 2: Playing The Game
A. The game of Bayroot shall be played between two teams. Teams can have any number of players in an exhibition game. In tournament play, teams shall have two players, unless the tournament calls for a different number.
- Substitute players can be used only in emergency situations, and only with the consent of both teams.
- In tournament play, if a team is missing a player and the table is setup, that team shall forfeit the game.
B. All common Bayroot or Beer Pong rules apply unless otherwise noted.
C. House Rules:
- Touch rule is enforced. If a ball touches one cup and falls into another cup, all cups touched are considered "hit".
- The lean rule is enforced by the table. The ball must leave the hand prior to crossing the defended goal line.
- Miss the table, drink a beer
- Hit the blimp, drink a beer
- If a defending player interferes with a ball that is in play, the player must drink 2 beers.
- Once the ball touches the table, it is considered dead and can be touched by the defense. The ball is still playable after touching the table, however. It goes in, it is "hit"
- Blowing is legal.
- No replacing spilled cups. They are considered "hit" and removed from the table.
- Knock over the Beer-a-mid, drink a beer. Minimum of 3 cans knocked over to be a penalty.
- A team cannot lose due to a penalty.
D. During tournament play, there is a 20 minute time limit. At the end of 20 minutes, the team with more cups defended is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, there is a 10-minute long, 3-cup sudden death overtime, "visiting team" shoots first, and "home team" still has the "last ups". First team to hit one cup is the winner. If the overtime period lasts more than 10 minutes, both teams are eliminated from the tournament, because that is just plain pathetic, and we do not want to disgrace our table with such a sorry performance. In overtime, the Mystery Cup is still mandatory, even if it has been "hit" during the game.
E. In tournament play, the "visiting team" is responsible for obtaining the proper supplies for the upcoming game.
F. Taunting is legal and encouraged. However, players must stay on their side of the table, as marked by the 50 yard line. Any player who crosses the line is assessed a 1 drink penalty for first offense, 2 drink for second offense and team elimination for 3rd offense. This rule does not apply when players are retrieving balls or cleaning up.
Section 3: Tournament Play
A. Tournaments shall be played only on predetermined days and only after ample notice has been given to members of the 28 Froth Social Club, so as to determine the players and teams.
